One of the things that Dr. Hirano had done for many years was coach baseball. He was never an all-star growing up, but some of those lessons he heard must have sank in. His last team, the Twins, in the Gardena Sansei League had compiled a winning record of over 90% over 3 seasons. Some of those boys have fantastic abilities. You may see them in the big leagues one day!

His philosophy in coaching has always been: “Everyone plays, and everyone has fun.  Winning the game isn’t as important as building young men of character.”  While it’s been a couple of years since he’s coached, Dr. Hirano still dabbles in the game by playing in a softball league on the weekends.
